Thermocycler or DNA amplifier
A thermocycler is a machine that is used for PCR. It can be set to run in patterns, heating and cooling the DNA samples. These temperature cycles will amplify copies of the DNA segments that are targeted by the primers.
Spectroscopy
Spectroscopy is the measurement of an interaction between electromagnetic radiation and the chemicals, or atoms, of a chemical substance. To ensure the safety, quality and efficacy of compounds being produced, absorption spectroscopy is an important analytical chemistry technique used in pharmaceutical analysis.
Chromatography
Chromatography is used for the separation of a mixture of compounds into its individual components in laboratories. It is a technique for separating the components, or solutes, of a mixture on the basis of the relative amounts of each solute distributed between a moving fluid stream, called the mobile phase, and a contiguous stationary phase.
Centrifuge
A centrifuge is a piece of equipment, generally driven by a motor that puts an object in rotation around a fixed axis, applying a force perpendicular to the axis. The centrifuge works using the sedimentation principle, where the centripetal acceleration is used to separate substances of greater and lesser density.
Fractional Distillation
Fractional distillation is a technique used when separating a mixture of two liquids that do not "behave" well enough to use simple distillation. The process involves heating the mixture and partial condensation of the vapors along a column (fractionating column), which is set up such that components with lower boiling points pass through the column and are collected earlier than components with higher boiling points.
Gel Electrophoresis
The separation of macro-molecules in an electric field is called electrophoresis.Protein separation by electrophoresis can be used to estimate relative molecular mass, to determine the relative abundance of major proteins in a sample, and to determine the distribution of proteins among fractions.
Biosafety Cabinet
(CLASS I & II)
Biological safety cabinets (BSCs) are among the most effective primary containment devices used in laboratories working with infectious agents. They act as primary barriers to prevent the escape of biological aerosols into the laboratory environment.
Hot Air Oven
Hot air ovens are used in laboratories to perform effect of ageing on various physical properties of any type of materials. These forced air convection ovens are also used for high quality drying and baking applications in the field of laboratory, medical or biomedical and pharmaceutical and textile industries, where fast heat up and consistent temperature are prime requisite.
Laminar Air Flow
Laminar flow hoods provide a work space completely devoid of contaminants. These hoods provide protection through a constant flow of air. Many medical and research laboratories require a completely sterile environment in which to carry out certain tasks.
Autoclave
Autoclave is a closed heating device used to sterilize an object using high temperature steam. The autoclave is primarily intended to kill the endospores which are resistant cells produced by bacteria, they are resistant to heating, dryness and antibiotics.
